What to pack in your hospital bag when preparing for labor

As your due date approaches, the more exciting it is to get ready to meet your baby! To make sure you have everything you need to be more comfortable and at easy after your delivery, we compiled a list of things to consider to add to your hospital bag. The list isn't super glamorous but let's get real, you will need these things! Also to make sure you don't over pack, you can call labor and delivery and ask them what is provided to new mothers. 


Mama Bag

  • Toiletries

    • Lip Balm (hospital air can be drying)

    • Deodorant

    • Lotion

    • Toothbrush and toothpaste

    • Shampoo

    • Body wash and loofah

    • Face wash or face mask for a pick me up

    • Glasses if you wear contacts

  • Frida mom ice pads

  • Peri bottle postpartum care

  • Large pillow

    • Some hospitals do not have comfy pillows. The pillow can be used during labor and when you start breastfeeding. Try to choose a colored or patterned pillowcase so it won’t be mistaken for a hospital pillow.

  • Extra long phone charger cord and power cable to plug in multiple items

  • Big Beach Towel

  • Extra large high waisted panties, adult diapers, pads, Shethinx underwear, or Always Discreet underwear

    • After delivering a baby, it gets messy down there!

  • Robe or loose clothing

  • Insurance papers

  • Baby Book to put baby’s footprint in

  • Belly Band / Wrap

  • Vitamins

  • Gas & Stool Softener supplements

  • Nursing Bra, Nursing Pads, & Nipple cream

  • Favorite Snacks & Breastfeeding inducing snacks

  • Slippers, no-skid socks, or flip flops

  • Going home outfit

Baby Bag

  • Baby Wipes

  • Car Seat

    • Make sure you practice using the car seat before baby arrives

  • A few outfits for baby as baby will get messy during feedings

    • Swaddles

    • Baby Robe. Something that is easy for diaper changes. (Magnetic Me)

    • sleep sack

    • 2 going home outfits (1 slightly bigger just in case baby is bigger than expected)

    • Onsies, mittens, hat, and socks

  • 1 baby bottle

  • 1 pacifier

  • 1 car seat cover

Papa or Partner Bag

  • 2 Extra Outfits

  • Toiletries

  • Sweater

  • Phone charger 

  • Water Bottle

  • Eye glasses

  • Snacks

  • Bluetooth speaker

  • Blanket & Pillow
