Movement & Mindfulness for Mamas Yoga Instructor/Artist
Shannon is a yogini, artist, and mother. Her classes thoughtfully orchestrate creative sequencing, laser pointed alignment cues with gentle assists, story-telling, visualizations and meditation. She draws inspiration for her classes from yogic texts, nature, poetry, and mapping the body.
Yoga was the sanctuary in which she healed her own traumas. Her yoga practice gave her the courage to leave the Urban Design world to dedicate her life to its study.
Motherhood has transformed her understanding of balance in life, and in her body. It has both deepened her appreciation for the power of ritual in yoga to stabilize the busy life of a parent, and to honor the body as precious for all of its miraculous gifts it provides. Yoga has looked different on the outside as her body transformed through a difficult pregnancy, birth and post-partum period. Yet, the power of ritual and simply showing up to the mat and listening to her body to give it what it needs throughout has been the fulcrum of grounding and balance for her as a busy mom and teacher.
Shannon is a RYT500 Triveni Yoga teacher. Triveni combines the physical practices of ashtanga-based vinyasa with creative and meditative inner practices. Triveni integrates all 8 limbs of yoga and explores the subtle body as the platform for radical transformation.
Shannon bows to her teachers Jessica and Stéphane Dreyfus, Elise Lorimer, Betty Roi, CarolynCooper, Kelly Lindsey, Joy Yang, DuoDuo Tian, Geshe Michael
